The CBI has registered a case against Talla Narayana Rao, postmaster of Sativada and three other postal officials of Srikakulam division on Wednesday.
The allegation was that from October 26, 2013 to September 9, 2015, Narayana Rao conspired with Rangabhatla Venkata Narasimha Satya Sai Sakuntala, sub-postmaster, Gara sub post officer; P. Trinadh, mail overseer, west sub-division of Srikakulam; and Mule Srinivasa Reddy, assistant superintendent of post offices, west sub-division; and misappropriated an amount of Rs1.6 crore, which were to be given as wages to the beneficiaries under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.
After registration of the case, searches have been conducted at the residential premises of accused persons at Sativada, Gara, Srikakulam and Muralinagar of Visakhapatnam.
During the course of searches certain incriminating documents have been seized by the CBI officials. The investigation is on.
T. Narayana Rao allegedly conspired with staff and misappropriated an amount of Rs. 1.6 crore.
